This is an example of a response to a theme: Freedom
Grand-Prize Winner
Caption: In the last ten years, mobile data, smartphones and social networks have forever changed our existence. Although this woman stood at the center of a jam-packed train, the warm glow from her phone told the strangers around her that she wasn't really there. She managed to slip away from "here" for a short moment; she's a node flickering on the social web, roaming the Earth, free as a butterfly. Our existence is no longer stuck to the physical here; we're free to run away, and run we will. Photo Location: Hong Kong
The January Question:
The January 2015 Paper has 21 Questions. You choose 1 Question and explore this with Photography Lens and Light based Media. You must refine and experiment as you explore the theme and refer and explore other artist techniques and processess. You must develop your own individual response to the theme and it must be clear, in stages, the process of your journey.

Q: Ageing and Weathering
The initial Photographic Contact Sheet:
Rust on a Tree....?
The initial explorations led to rust and farm machinery symbolism and the interest in rust led to the discovery of the Photographer Jana Scott
This is her artist statement (Click WEBSITE: Jana Scott)
rust.... It’s everywhere and it’s not desirable, so why photograph it?
To communicate the following…..
If our status and self-worth is measured by the physical treasures we have or hope for….
And these treasures can be stolen or destroyed, and eventually will rust away………
Putting our hope, status and self-worth in these treasures is fragile and foolish.
Where is your hope?
Is it in material things or spiritual things?
What is your time, energy and
money spent accomplishing?
Are you chasing treasure that will rust away?

I have been taking photographs from the time I was a little girl, but recently I started creating images.
This body of work started with an anxious adventure to photograph something, anything.
Like much of my serendipitous life I was at a very ordinary location, one that had been photographed hundreds of times. It was then I began to see, really see, the fading beauty.
The message, and ultimately the development, of this collection was inspired by a biblical principal I was reminded of:
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ”
